Late Score Costs Varsity Eagles the Southern Boone Classic

#22 Blaine Hargis forces out a Fatima player at first

The Varsity Eagles stayed in it until the end on Saturday, May 4th in the Southern Boone Classic championship game against Fatima, but the Comets pulled away late in a 4-3 victory.

The Eagles tied the game 2-2 in the bottom of the third thanks to a single by Chase Morris and a double by Austin Evans. The team then took the lead in the bottom of the fifth when Evans hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run to give the Eagles the advantage at 3-2. Fatima came back and tied the game 3-3 in the top of the seventh, then scoring the final blow at the top of the eighth.

The Eagles had just beaten the Fatima Comets on Monday, April 29th 9-6 in a regular season game. The team earned their way to the Southern Boone Classic championship game by defeating North Callaway 2-0, Hallsville 10-0, and Moberly 6-1. Their season record is currently 25-8. The team faced California on Tuesday, May 7th. Results not available before press time.

Southern Boone Freshmen Defeat Blair Oaks in Pitcher’s Duel

Both teams were strong on the mound on Tuesday, April 30th, but Souther Boone Freshman Eagles pulled out the win 2-1. Brody Troth started the game for the Eagles and recorded 12 outs. The Eagles got on the board in the second inning after Titus Pridemore singled, scoring two runs.

Richie Begemann, Colton Rumble, and Pridemor each collected one hit for the Eagles. Pridemore led Southern Boone with one run batted in and went 1-for-1 on the day. The freshman team season record is currently 5-13. They faced Father Tolton on Monday, May 6th. Results not available by press time.
