Thomas Edward Griffin Sr.  passed away at Boone Hospital on June 17, 2022 with loving children at his side. He was 89 years old.

Thomas “Ed” Griffin was born in Boone County on July 11, 1932. The son of Thomas Marion Griffin and Gussie Mae (Nichols) Griffin. He was united in marriage to Evelyn Mae Ahmann on August 21, 1949 in Cedar City Missouri by Justice of the Peace, Rev. Case.

Ed supported his family in the early years working as a baker and farming with his dad. He later found employment at Stover Carpets and quickly became a carpet installer. Eventually he struck out on his own and continued the installer trade until his retirement in the mid 90’s.  He enjoyed the great outdoors with family camping and fishing and later became a “CB” enthusiast. As a child he learned to play the guitar  and enjoyed “picking and singing” all his life. After becoming acquainted with  Rev. Herschel Hughes he then became a long time member of Peace United Church of Christ, Hartsburg, MO.

Survivors include a long time companion Betty Glabb, and his three children, Thomas E. Griffin Jr. (Sandy), Carl L. Griffin (Paula) and Debra K. Griffin. Grand children include: Karen Butcher (David), Scott Griffin (Tara), Hailey Wolf (Adam), Rachel Burlison (Mark), Ross Griffin, April Sherman, Annette Bennett (Mark), Tim Sherman (Tracy), Sara  and Abigail Kanatzar. He was blessed with thirteen great-grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren, 4 step-grandchildren. Betty’s family, Richard (Christy) Martin, Mike (Connie) Martin, Denise Martin, numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Evelyn his wife of 56 years and one great-grand son.

A graveside service will be held at Mount Pleasant Cemetery Hartsburg, Missouri on June 22, 2022 at 10:00am

Memorial contributions are suggested to Mount Pleasant Cemetery in care of the family.
