Gordon Dale Tanner

Gordon Dale Tanner, 79, was received into the arms of the Lord on Tuesday, June 13, 2022 after a long battle with cancer. He was born March 20, 1943; a son of Roy Dale Tanner and Mary Catherine (Culkin) Tanner.

He was a 1961 graduate of Jefferson City High School and attended Lincoln University. In 1962 he was united in marriage to Barbara Ann Pahmeier, and to this union three children were born, Mark Andrew Tanner, Lisa Ellen (Tanner) Norton, and Michael Tanner. He worked 38 years for campus facilities at the University of Missouri, Columbia, Missouri, retiring in 2000. He was a member of Peace United Church of Hartsburg, Missouri and a Charter member of Hartsburg Lion’s Club. Gordon was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed time spent with family.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Barbara Ann Tanner; daughter, Lisa Norton (John); son, Michael Tanner (Erin); grandchildren, Nicholas and Jensen Cunningham, Jacob and Brooke Tanner; brother, John Richard Tanner; sister, Roseanne Shansky (Michael).  He was preceded in death by his grandparents, parents; son, Mark Andrew Tanner; sister, Mary Russell; and brother William Tanner.

Friends will be received from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 18, 2022 at Peace United Church of Christ in Hartsburg, Missouri.  Funeral will follow at 11:00 a.m. with Carole Barner officiating. Interment will be held at Freidens Cemetery in Hartsburg, Missouri.

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to Peace United Church of Christ in Hartsburg, Missouri.
