Marjorie Colleen Nichols, of Jefferson City, Missouri passed away peacefully, Friday, January 13, 2023. Marjorie (Colleen) was born  March 14, 1933 in Jefferson City, the daughter to the late Ethel Cora and Elmon Nichols.

  Colleen was a 1951 graduate of Jefferson City Senior High School and a graduate of Jefferson City Junior College.  In her early years she worked at Newberry’s 5 &10 Cent Store and Herman’s Department Store. She retired from the Missouri Bar Association where she worked for over forty years.  She also had her real estate license with June Scott Realtor.   

   Colleen grew up helping her parents, who ran Hough Park golf course and it was at this time she began to learn and later love the game of golf.  She was a very accomplished golfer and always so proud of the trophies she won at Hough Park.  She also won the ladies championship in 1962, 1966 and 1986 at Meadow Lake Country Club where she was a charter member.  She was an auxiliary member of the American Legion and the Elks Club.

   Colleen was very close to her three sisters and always loved harmonizing and singing with them at church, weddings and funerals, or just singing around the house with her dad playing the fiddle. She was also an excellent cook known for her Bailey’s cake, pralines and ginger snap cookies.

Colleen was a very dedicated caregiver, going above and beyond when it came to taking care of her family and friends and will be sadly missed by all that knew her.

   She was preceded in death by her parents, Elmon and Ethel Cora,  three sisters, Lorraine Kelsey, Eualee Taylor and Juanita Scharz and one brother Melvin Nichols.

  Colleen was a member of Goshen Primitive Baptist Church, Wilton, Missouri.

    A private graveside ceremony will be held at Woodcrest Cemetery, on a later date.
