Doris Calvin, 88, of Grinnell, IA and formerly of Ashland, MO, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, November 9, 2022. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 am on Wednesday, November 23, 2022, at the Calvary Baptist Church in Grinnell.

  A luncheon will follow the service at the church. Interment will be at Bethel Cemetery north of Lynnville. Visitation will be held from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Tuesday, November 22nd at the Calvary Baptist Church.

  Doris Louise Edwards was born the daughter of Noah and Emma (Wyman) Edwards on November 26, 1933 in Boone County, Missouri. She was raised on the family farm near Ashland, Missouri and graduated from Ashland High School with the class of 1952.

   Doris was united in marriage to her high school sweetheart, Wilburn Leroy Calvin on June 20, 1952 in Ashland, Missouri. The couple was blessed with three daughters, Teresa, Sharon and Gina. They resided in Ashland, Missouri until 1967, when General Telephone Company transferred Leroy to Grinnell, Iowa. Doris was a homemaker and sold AVON products for over 30 years.

   Doris held a very strong faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. Doris and Leroy were active members of the Calvary Baptist Church in Grinnell, where she taught Sunday School and served countless meals on the funeral luncheon committee.

      Her hobbies and enjoyments were attending her grandchildren’s activities, sitting on the front porch swing, baking chocolate chip cookies, sending out birthday cards, playing board games and cards. Doris will be remembered as a faithful servant of God who dearly loved her family.

  Doris is survived by her three daughters, Teresa (Brian) Thompson of Grinnell, Sharon (Rod) Boggess of Avoca, Iowa, and Gina (Torey) DeFalco of St. Maries, Idaho; 14 grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren; and sister, Reta (Dale) Christian of Memphis, Tennessee. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Leroy Calvin in 2021.
