Workers for CL Richardson company began laying pipe for the forced main sewer project in late June as the beginnings of the Ponderosa Commerce Park takes shape.

The 478-acre development between US Highway 63 and the Columbia Regional Airport is entirely within the City of Ashland city limits as well was the taxing districts of Southern Boone Schools and the Southern Boone Fire Protection District – which will mean tax proceeds for all.

“It will mean jobs for Southern Boone residents, sales tax, property tax – it will have a positive affect for fire, police, schools and everyone touched by those entities,” said Ashland Mayor Gene Rhorer. “It is the golden goose. It’s a fantastic development for the entire region.”

Ponderosa Commerce Park is a subsidiary of Hummingbird Properties, owned by Midway USA owner Larry Potterfield.

Ponderosa Commerce Park has had its plat approved by the City of Ashland, and Rhorer says the dirt-moving process will begin soon.
