Eagles soccer team gets past Moberly 1-0
After Monday’s 1-0 win over the Moberly Spartans Monday night, SoBoCo Eagles soccer coach Chris Miller compared his team’s scoring efforts to that of a golfer on a putt-putt golf course.
“We’re at the hole with the windmill, and every time we take a good shot, it hits the windmill.”
While the Eagles are still winning – they took two of three games in the past week – Miller says the Eagles are simply frustrated because they are not playing as well, particularly offensively, as they are capable of playing.
More directly: SoBoCo is having troubles scoring goals. The Eagles scored 28 goals in their first seven games, but since have only scored 16 goals in the past 12 games.
You can’t complain about a team which is 12-4-2, but Miller says this two-week string of not scoring is bound to end sooner or later.
“When you get rolling, the goal looks like it is 100-yards wide, but the way we have been going, it’s a miracle they scored at all,” Miller said of Monday’s win.
Despite the lack of a goal barrage, the Eagles have been doing plenty of things right elsewhere on the field and giving themselves plenty of chances to win.
Against Moberly, Maguire Scheer scored the game’s only goal in the eighth minute, assisted by Ian McCluskey.
