The Eagles volleyball team had to get to know one another quickly this past weekend as they went to the Eldon Tournament with a key injury and missing another senior who left the team.
Hannah Crow, one of the Eagles’ top hitters and defensive players was injured at Kirksville and missed the entire weekend. Coach Jaime Nelson said she was unsure as to Crow’s status for the rest of the season.
The Eagles went 1-3 in the tournament, however, Nelson under the circumstances, she was pleased with her team’s play.
“We have had six lineup changes and that is always difficult,” Nelson said. JV players Sayde Taggart and Anna Poole are expected to produce quickly and Ginny Lewis, used as a backup, was thrust into a key role.
“They responded well,” Nelson said.
The Eagles lost to Metro Academy in the first match and then lost to host Eldon. However, the Eagles bounced back and defeated Boonville by 25-21, 20-25, 25-14 scores.
