Scrimmage Teaches Eagles a Few Lessons
The SoBoCo Eagles dominated both sides of the line of scrimmage on Friday as they hosted a jamboree with Father Tolton and Tri-County Conference rival Hallsville.
However, the Eagles learned a few valuable lessons in the process of scoring twice against Tolton (while allowing one score) and getting shut out by the Indians.
Lesson 1: If you are going to win football games, you have to execute on offense and put the ball in the end zone.
The Eagles barely allowed Hallsville a first down, but the SoBoCo offense shot themselves in the foot with a bad snap/fumble, incomplete passes and poor downfield blocking.
Sure, this was just a scrimmage – so it’s not that the Eagles offense has a problem. Yet.
“We created a bit of our own problem by having scripted plays and Hallsville came in with a different defense than we expected,” said SoBoCo coach Trent Tracy. “This was a scrimmage against unscouted teams and you just go out and run plays – so that doesn’t worry me.”
