Last Saturday, the New Covenant Academy Warriors (16-4) traveled from Springfield to take on Southern Boone in the state semifinals. The game was scheduled to take place in Ashland; however, heavy rains and a muddy field led to the game being played in Jefferson City on the turf of Helias High School. The Warriors came into the match having claimed their first district title in 15 years. They then defeated Fatima by a score of 2-0 in the quarterfinal round. Prior to Saturday, NCA had averaged scoring 3.5 goals per game, and allowing 1.1 goals during the season. In comparison, the Eagles had averaged scoring 4.0 goals each game, while only allowing 0.3 by their opponents.
