It was a rough day on Lake of the Ozarks Sunday, March 17 as 324 boats fished the National Youth Fishing Association’s High School Bass tournament. Only 83 teams weighed in a keeper.
Southern Boone sent eight teams with only two catching a keeper. Landon Sapp & Bradley Smith ended up 53rd with one fish, and Isaac Jacober & Nik Post finished 65th with one fish as well. With the cold, rain, rising water and wind, the fishing has been tough. The patterns of fish are changing daily and they are tough to locate and get to bite. It was good experience for some new members to the fishing team. The team will compete at Table Rock Lake in May for the second tournament of the year where they hope to do better and qualify for the state competition in June.
The team also wants to thank everyone who came out to the fish fry. We raised enough money to cover our entry fees to be able to fish these tournaments.
