Eagles score on eight straight possessions in win.
SoBoCo Eagles football coach Trent Tracy likes to have his first 10 offensive plays scripted for the first possessions in the first quarter of each game.
“That way, we can see if they are doing anything differently defensively (than what the Eagles prepared for) and we can see how they react to our basic plays.”
On Friday in Versailles, the Eagles didn’t do much with their initial scripted plays, punting on their first two possessions.
Then, senior running back Jackson Sartain took a handoff late in the first quarter of the 0-0 game and raced 42-yards for a touchdown an a 7-0 Eagles lead.
The feeling out process was over. The script was tossed. The Eagles never punted again the rest of the game in a 49-0 route of the Wildcats.
The win moved the Eagles to 7-2 and third place in their district standings. SoBoCo will face Wright City – whom they defeated 35-6 in a rain shortened game earlier this season. The first-round playoff game will be played at the SoBoCo athletic field on Friday at 7 pm.
The Eagles dominated the second quarter with TDs on each of their possessions – a 1-yard score by Tanner Smith, a Spencer Taggart to Sam Stichnote 25-yard scoring pass play and a Parker Boyce 25-yard field goal to give the Eagles a 22-0 halftime lead.
