By Andrew Golightly
Golf season is now in full swing and the week of August 28th brought three events. The first event, on August 29th, was a home match against Boonville. Varsity took home the win defeating the Pirates by a score of 212-222. According to Coach Golightly “I saw several good things during this match, but we can always be better, especially with our short game.” Leading Southern Boone was freshman Courtney Hargis, firing a 49. Hargis was second overall in the match, just one stroke behind Karagyn Cooper. Breckyn Shewmake had the next lowest score for the Eagles with a 51, followed by Alice Mauney carding a 54, Erissa Robertson a 58 and Brylee Hendrix a 61. Leading the JV team was Adelyn Golightly carding a 51.

The very next day the lady Eagles varsity team traveled to Lake Valley Country Club in Camdenton. Coach Golightly stated that “this is a tough course and I am very proud of how the ladies played today.” Southern Boone took fourteenth as a team out of twenty. “I am happy with our placement at this tournament – it may not look great on paper, but we were the smallest school to play in this tournament and still came out on top against some larger schools.” Leading the way for the Eagles was Breckyn Shewmake, carding a 100. Followed by Shewmake were Courtney Hargis and Erissa Robertson (both carding 102), Alice Mauney with a 110 and Brylee Hendrix with a 119.
