Coach Jaime Nelson said what came from the tournament was experience and close, competitive games that will benefit the Eagles in next week’s district tournament.

The Eagles started play at Versailles with a split with Green Ridge, 24-26, 26-24 and a win over Crystal City 25-12, 25-14. They then lost to Versailles 26-24, 25-22 and were the fourth seed from pool play.

In the bracket portion of the tournament, the Eagles lost to Osage 25-21, 20-25, 16-25.

“We lost in three games to Osage, but I think we just wore out mentally and physically,” Nelson said.

However, the coach and team came away optimistic about the final two weeks of the season.

“Our record wasn’t great, but I was really pleased with the way the girls played,” Nelson said. “They are playing well together, being supportive of each other and working hard.”
