Jesse “Woody” Woodson Sapp of Ashland passed away in his home on Thursday, October 22, 2020. He was 75 years old. Woody was born June 30, 1945 to Jesse T. Sapp and Dorothy (Bennett) Wilson.

Woody was a kind, friendly soul who did not know a stranger. He enjoyed dancing in his younger days and hunting and fishing throughout his life.  He always had a kennel of hounds and never turned down a dog that needed a home as he took in many strays over the years. Woody grew up in Ashland and retired from the City of Ashland Maintenance Department, where he mowed grass. He loved driving shuttles at the Hartsburg Pumpkin Festival.

Woody was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his sister, Susan Sapp Bennett; nephew, Peyton (Emily) Bennett; niece, Annalese (James) Brown as well as a great-niece Bentley Brown (his “Little Angel”) and great-nephew Jesse Brown (his “Little Buddy”). He loved his family dearly, and will be desperately missed.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, November 7 at New Liberty Baptist Church cemetery.  Masks with social distancing requested.
