Ira “Leon” Calvin, 89, passed away in his sleep Sunday, June 19, 2016. Leon was born September 8, 1926 in Boone County to the late Ira and Clara Belle Calvin. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Lola.

Leon served in the U.S. Navy from 1944-1946. After the service much of his life was spent in farming which he continued into his 80’s. Leon was a faithful member of Little Bonne Femme Baptist Church, Hwy 63 South, Columbia.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 22, at 11:00 a.m. at the church. Burial will follow in Little Boone Femme Cemetery. Visitation will be held Tuesday, June 21, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the church.

Surviving are daughters, Lari Stuckey (Chuck) of North Carolina, Lisa Porter (David) of Texas, and Lanet Bittle of Fulton, Carla Spencer of Colorado; son’s, David Calvin of Texas, Ronnie (Debbie) Nichols of Ashland; 10 grandchildren, Joshua Stuckey (Linsey), Jacob Stuckey (Jenni), Kevin, Ryan and Brady Porter, Blake Calvin (Allison), Taylor and Madison Bittle, Cody and Crystal Calvin, Zach and Dylan Kline, Travis Nichols (Cari) and Nicole Greening (Tyler); several great-grandchildren. He is also survived by two brothers, a sister, numerous in-laws, nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the church.
