The Columbia Eye Consultants is the most recent medical practice to make a new home in Ashland.
Local optometrist Jeff Gamble and his team have opened the practice.
The Ashland office is at 101 Redtail, sharing a building with MU Healthcare and Hoyle Chiropractic.
Ashland’s Jeff Gamble, a Columbia and Boonville native said Columbia Eye Consultants was already seeing 2,600 patients from the Southern Boone area, so adding the practice made sense.
“We felt like we were growing in Columbia and it made sense to grow in rural practices,” Gamble said. “We are trying to expand geographically from where we are. We have also expanded to have an opthamologist on staff doing cataract surgery.”
The Ashland office is open two days per week from 10 a.m.- 7 p.m.
“We set the hours so that people can come ater work,” Gamble said. “The Ashland office is the only one of our four offices that offers those hours – the last appointment here is at 6:15…..and the later appointments have been the first ones to fill up.”
Gamble graduated from Northeastern Oklahoma, in Tahlequah, in 2002 and eventually took over his father’s Columbia practice.
“We feel like access to primary level care is something everyone should have,” Gamble said. “‘Patient First’ is our motto and community is very important to us.”
