Ashley Sjostrand of Hartsburg, Missouri, won the Missouri FFA Poultry Production Entrepreneurship and Placement Combined Proficiency Award at the 94th Missouri FFA Convention.
Sjostrand, a junior at Southern Boone County High School, is the daughter of Brian and Jeanne Sjostrand. She is a member of the Ashland FFA Chapter. Her FFA advisor is Rebekah Hammett.
Sjostrand’s supervised agricultural experience program consists of raising Cinnamon Queen laying hens. Sjostrand’s responsibilities include raising her chickens; maintaining the facilities; and gathering, cleaning, and packaging eggs. Her customers include individuals and a local restaurant. Sjostrand also raises a set of Cornish-Cross broiler birds, for which she won Grand Champion at the Boone County Fair multiple times.
