While the new concrete has only been down for less than two weeks, Mayor Gene Rhorer has already seen students walking and riding their bikes on the new Ash Street sidewalk.  0928-Sidewalk2

“I saw kids getting on the sidewalk before they had removed the barriers,” Rhorer said, “and that was OK with me – it’s a lot different now than when I saw a young girl fall in the ditch and break her arm.”

That incident was what spurred Rhorer to seek funding to pay not only for the sidewalk, but a complete drainage project as well.

‘We have had problems with storm water runoff in that area,” Rhorer said, “but this project not only installed a new, larger water line along Ash Street, it includes an underground storm water run off system for that area of town.”
