The Eagles boys basketball team will have eight seniors returning – and looking to add to the 25-3 win-loss record they had last season.

Led by seniors Gage Schupp and Gannon Mueller, the Eagles won the regular season conference title as well as the initial Tri-County Conference Tournament. However, their season ended in the districts with a loss to eventual state champion Father Tolton Regional Catholic.

SoBoCo coach Andy Jahnsen says that this season’s potential is filled with bigger, faster players – and a new district challenge.

SoBoCo returns seniors starters Spencer Taggart, Garrett Goodnight and Maguire Scheer and sophomore Sam Stichnote – who played a major role in the Eagles success coming off the bench last season.

In addition, Jahnsen will have seniors Kolton Schupp and Clay Jeffrey – both of whom have the athleticism and speed to get up and down the court in the Eagles’ speedball game. Add to the mix newcomer Zane Safely and the potential for senior Colin Vaughan to come back after a football injury and the Eagles are the team to beat again this season.

The Eagles lack height – each of the key players is between 5-11 and 6-2 – but for Jahnsen that is a standard recipe when he is looking for a team that will use its quickness to get plenty of transition baskets.
