After dropping their first game of the season early last week, the Eagles softball team has won three in a row – including a big conference win over rival Hallsville. SoBoCo started the week last Tuesday with a 7-2 loss to district foe Helias.
SoBoCo fell behind Helias 4-0 in the second inning and could not catch up, losing for the first time this season by a 7-2 score.
SoBoCo’s Kate Ponder, Kylee Lammers and Bri Volle teamed up to create some offense for the Eagles and put a pair of runs on the board, however, the Crusaders bats were hot and they added three more runs for the 7-2 final.
“We know we can play with them and it was good to get a game with them before districts,” said Eagles lead off batter Courtney Phillips.
The Eagles softball team was led by Courtney Phillips’ two hits and Ashley Osborne’s dominate pitching performance in their win over Hallsville.
Eagles second baseman Kate Ponder put SoBoCo into a first inning lead with an RBI hit. SoBoCo got three more runs in the second inning and three more in the fourth as the Indians pitching and defense crumbled under pressure from the Eagles. Phillips got an RBI hit scoring left fielder Carrie Ponder and Izzy Smith tacked on another RBI single.
