Cameron Jones, an Ashland local, is participating in the 2019 MotoAmerica race series.

Jones began his racing career in 2016 when he started participating in races with MCRA (Midwest Café Racing Association). Racing with MCRA, he ended his first season with the Rookie of the Year award and in the following season, 2017, Jones won the MCRA Championship, setting two track records. After gaining the title as the MCRA Ultralight GT Champion, Jones took his racing to Daytona International Speedway where he took home two more wins. Following Daytona, he began preparing to race the 2018 MotoAmerica series.

Jones started off his first MotoAmerica season well as he finished 5th place out of 21 racers at the Championship of Utah last July. He also had an 7th place finish at Road America in Wisconsin and an 8th place finish at Weather Tech Raceway Laguna Seca in Monterey California. During round 8 of the MotoAmerica Series at the Championship of Pittsburg at Pittsburg International Raceway, Jones crashed during the first race and suffered from a severe head injury.
