Last week, the varsity boys and girls hosted the annual Southern Boone Classic as teams from all over central Missouri came to compete in the tournament.
On Tuesday, Jan. 30th, the varsity girls easily defeated Kirksville 64-31, but had more of a fight when they faced St. Elizabeth on Thursday night. St. Elizabeth caught up in the fourth quarter and the score stayed within a close range until the Lady Eagles pulled ahead in the last few minutes with a final score of 49-45. The girls brought it home in Saturday night’s championship game, with Chloe Bukowsky leading the team in scoring 23 points and defeating Capital City 43-36.
The boys varsity defeated Kirksville in double overtime on Wednesday, Jan. 31st with a final score of 68-67 but fell to the Warrenton Warriors 45-59 on Thursday. In the final game on Saturday, Feb. 3rd, Eagles’ defense was unable to hold Battle Spartans and fell 39-76.
