This past week, Southern Boone has soared to #4 in class 4 and is now 12-3 on the season according to the latest Missouri High School Baseball Coaches Association baseball state rankings. Here are this week’s highlights.

Varsity Eagles Sweep Hallsville

Austin Evans drove in five runs on two hits to lead Southern Boone Varsity Eagles past Hallsville 15-0 on Tuesday, April 10th. Evans hit a home run to center field in the third inning, scoring three runs, and doubled in the fourth inning, scoring two.

The Eagles got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after Ryker Zimmerman doubled and Blaine Hargis singled, each scoring one run. They added to their early lead in the bottom of the second inning after Jace Wren hit a sacrifice fly, Hallsville committed an error, Chase Morris hit a sacrifice fly, and Zimmerman homered to left field, each scoring one run.

Four more varsity Eagle runs crossed the plate in the third inning to extend the lead 10-0. Wren singled, scoring one run, and Evans homered to center field, scoring three runs. The Eagles amassed 10 hits in the game and stole six bases. The team welcomes Grain Valley on Thursday, April 11th at 1:00pm.

Junior Varsity Eagles Take Lead and Never Look Back in Win Over Hallsville Indians

Junior Varsity Eagles faced Hallsville on April 9th following the varsity game, and defeated the Indians 10-0, bringing their record to 5-1. JV got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after Jadon Martin drew a walk, scoring one run, Logan Easley doubled, scoring two runs, an error scored one run, and Nate Melvin drew a walk, scoring one run.

Overall, the team had patience at the plate, amassing eight walks for the game. Brody Troth and Zac Henson each stole multiple bases and the team stole eight bases throughout the game. JV didn’t commit a single error in the field. The team faces Russellville at home on Monday, April 15th at 7:00pm.

Austin Evans’ Big Day Propels Eagles Varsity Past Kirksville

Austin Evans collected three hits in four at bats as the Eagles defeated Kirksville 11-0 on Saturday, April 6th. Evans doubled in the fourth inning, tripled in the second inning, and singled in the first inning.

The Eagles got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after Jace Reynolds walked, Blaine Hargis grounded out, and the Eagles scored on a passed ball, each scoring one run.

The Eagles added to their early lead in the bottom of the second inning after Ryker Zimmerman grounded out, and Hargis hit a sacrifice fly, each scoring one run.

Reynolds led Southern Boone with three walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, accumulating eight walks for the game. Chase Morris stole two bases. The Eagles ran wild on the base paths, tallying five stolen bases for the game.

Eagles Claim Victory over St. Charles West

On Friday, April 5th, the Eagles defeated St. Charles West 6-3. Eagles opened the scoring in the first after an error scored two runs. The Eagles then committed an error, which helped St. Charles West tie the game at two in the top of the third.
In the bottom of the third, the Eagles broke the tie when Blaine Hargis hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run. Then a single by Brayden Beckmann followed to extend the lead 4-2.

Jace Reynolds, Beckmann, and Zimmerman each collected two hits for the Eagles. Reynolds, Beckmann, and Hargis each drove in one run, and the Eagles stole four bases throughout the game.

The Eagles Trounce South Callaway

The Eagles easily dispatched South Callaway on Wednesday, April 3rd. The Eagles got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after Austin Evans homered to right field, Jackson Woodward grounded out, and Blaine Hargis doubled, each scoring one run.

The Eagles added to their early lead in the bottom of the second inning when Chase Morris doubled, scoring one run, and Reynolds tripled, scoring two runs.

Reynolds, Morris, and Hargis each collected two hits. Morris stole three bases and the Eagles stole five bases throughout the game. The Eagles didn’t commit a single error in the field. Morris had the most chances in the field with four.
