If a Saturday spent outdoors in the snow, freezing temperatures and an early sunset at 5:13pm sounds appealing for a camping trip, you are not alone. 

Cold weather hiking and camping has been increasing in popularity over the last five years and with COVID-19 fatigue Mid-Missourians are braving the elements. 

Jefferson City residents Cody Holt and Tucker Gehlert are self described amateur outdoorsmen. Holt and Gehlert along with five others participated in what they call ‘sheltering’ at Moon Loop, a trial off east Deer Park located within Mark Twain National Forest on Saturday, January 16 thru the morning of January 17, 2021.
