Eagles Win Twice at Home

The SoBoCo Eagles soccer and volleyball teams were victorious on Tuesday evening, winning easily over their out-matched opponents.
The Eagles soccer team took a quick 2-0 lead in the first half over Fulton and steam-rolled the Hornets in a mercy rule-shortened game, 10-0.
SoBoCo got most of their goals in pairs, with two goal each coming from: Marcus Weaver, Brett Brookshire, Rajesh Bennett, and single goals from Parker Tergin, Sam Bonderer, Sam Salmons and Ryan Millar.
The win was the 13th of the season for the Eagles, with a home game vs Helias on Saturday coming up.
The Eagles volleyball team pulled its record back to .500 at 10-10-1 with a 2-set win over Warsaw.
Playing without seniors Hannah Crow and Kailey Goodrich (Crow: knee injury, Goodrich left the team) the Eagles were still dominating with outstanding hitting from Carsyn Morris and Katy Andrews and solid defensive play from Sydney Jones.
Coach Jaime Nelson said the Eagles, despite the season-ending injury to Crow – who is a top hitter as well as an outstanding defender – can still contend in this weekend’s Versailles Tournament as well as the district tournament on October 17.
Nelson said one of the keys would be getting good play from freshman Haley Kellmann – who responded Tuesday night with eight kills and three aces from the serving line. Nelson said Kellmann was an outstanding player for a freshman and brings with her experience from club volleyball.
The Eagles will play their Tri-County Conference rival Indians at Hallsville on Thursday, play in this weekend’s Versailles Tournament and return home for Senior Night next Tuesday against Osage.
