The Eagles won their opening three games last week, topping Osage 8-0, defeating Boonville 3-0 and defeating Battle High School on Saturday 3-1.

SoBoCo defender Ivan Bossert stops a Boonville attack during the Eagles’ 3-0 win last week.

In Saturday’s win, the Eagles got a pair of goals from Rajeesh Bennett and a goal form Rece Gilmore. SoBoCo’s defense gave up its first goal of the season on a penalty kick, but held a 2-1 lead over Battle at halftime. The minutes into the second half, the Eagles got their third goal and prevented the Spartans from threatening the rest of the game.

“Battle is very athletic and has good size, but it was really a grind for both teams,” Miller said, “i didn’t think either of use were really sharp passing the ball.”

Boonville, a team which defeated the Eagles last season then won its district. But the Pirates were no match for the Eagles this year.

SoBoCo completely out-played Boonville in the midfield, creating numerous chance for their offense and got goals from Devon Perry and Ricky Weisner in the first half and a nice goal off of a standard Southern Boone set piece by Ethan Blackburn.
