The first week of the Missouri High School football playoffs was full of blowouts and the SoBoCo Eagles were no exception.

The Eagles scored four touchdowns in the final 10:36 of the second quarter to break open a 14-7 game to give them a 41-7 halftime lead on their way to a 55-14 win over the Wright City Wildcats.

SoBoCo, now 8-2 on the season, will face Whitfield in Ashland on Friday at 7 p.m. in the semi-finals of district play.

“We struggled a little bit early,” said Eagles coach Trent Tracy, “but we made some adjustments – they have some big guys.”

Without starting middle linebacker Brent Stanfield available to play due to a slight knee injury, the Eagles defense started the game in a different alignment, utilizing only two linebackers. Southern Boone scored first on Colby Phillips’ 12-yard run – the first of four scores for Phillips – but the Wildcats showed they could move the ball.

Will Duncan stymied a Wildcats drive with an interception and the Eagles got another interception, this time by Sam Stichnote, and began a drive of their own.
