The Eagles came out hitting and lumped their hits as they jumped to a 7-0 lead in two innings.

Dani Post got the big hit for the Eagles, a two-run blast over the centerfield fence that scored two runs in the first inning. Carrie Ponder smashed a triple and later scored and the Eagles were playing their aggressive style of softball all evening.

“We did a good job of putting hits together tonight,” said Eagles coach Ashley Anderson. “We hit the ball well off of a pretty good pitcher tonight.”

The Indians, 15-5 on the season, threatened in the fifth inning, loading the bases twice, but could not get a run home. Ashley Osborne got the pitching win for the Eagles and continually inducing the Indians to beat the ball into the ground.

Osborne’s infield – Post, Kylee Lammers, Kate Ponder and Izzy Smith, played flawless ball gunning out runners at first and nearly scoring a double play in the fourth inning. Lammers made another fine running catch of an Osage pop fly in short left field as the Indians were unable to put runners in scoring position early in the game.

In the bottom of the fifth, Osborne hit the ball to the center field fence for a triple and scored when an attempted pickoff throw went into left field.
