The Eagles, proving again that cross country is a team sport, won by only two points – with Maddie Mattas’ 14th place showing and points being a critical part of the team score.

The Eagles were led as they have been all season by Alexa Newkirk in second place and Cassey Poole in fourth place. Koyia Prince ran in ninth place, Mattas in 14th and Karsen Maundy and Ryle Jetton in 34th and 36th place.

“We passed some runners in the final 200 yards,” said coach Crystal Branch of her team’s narrow win. “Anytime we had girls passing people, it bumped us up and the other teams down. One of the people we passed in the end was from Blair Oaks.”
