The SoBoCo Eagles girls beat Eldon in a early December conference match up, however, the re-match in Saturday’s opener of the Tri-County Conference Tournament was anything but easy.

The Eagles got 24 points and 10 rebounds from junior Carrie Ponder and held on for a 43-41 win.

“It was an ugly win, but it was a win,” said Eagles head coach Tony Phillips.

The win moved the SoBoCo girls into Tuesday’s semi-finals against the top-seeded California Pintos. (See bocojo.com for Tuesday night results.)

The Eldon Mustangs seemed to have revenge on their minds as the game was close throughout.

“We didn’t defend well and I will have to remind these girls we have to defend on defense,” Phillips said.
