The SoBoCo Eagles girls cross country team will be sending two runners to state after finishing a solid fourth in the team competition at the Class 3 District 5 meet at Salisbury on Saturday.
Cassey Poole follows a Fatima runner at a meet earlier this season.
Senior Alexa Newkirk, second place, and sophomore Cassey Poole, fifth place, will run Saturday in the state meet in Jefferson City at the Oak Hills Golf Center.
“The girls actually tied for third place,” Branch said, “but we ended up fourth due to the tie-breaker.
Branch said the performance by both the girls and the boys team on Saturday was a great way to end the season.
“I never expected such a great season considering that our first week of practice we didn’t even have a full (girls) team,” Branch said.
While Newkirk and Poole qualified for state, Koyia missed qualifying by just one position, finishing in 16th place.
