The Southern Boone Eagle Foundation is now accepting nominations for four distinguished awards that recognize individuals and organizations making a lasting impact on the Southern Boone School District and community. The deadline for nominations is Friday, March 14. The foundation invites nominations for the following awards:

  • Distinguished Alumni Award – Honors graduates of Southern Boone High School who have demonstrated outstanding achievements and contributions to society. Recipients serve as role models through excellence in character, citizenship, and leadership, inspiring and challenging today’s students.
  • Distinguished Educator Award – Recognizes current or former Southern Boone educators who have made significant and lasting contributions to the school district and community. This award highlights educators who demonstrate passion, commitment, and excellence in teaching and student learning.
  • Eagle Elite Award – Celebrates current Southern Boone Schools staff members who go above and beyond in their dedication to providing the best educational experience. This recognition honors those who make a meaningful difference in the lives of students, colleagues, and the community.
  • Friend of Education Award – Recognizes individuals, businesses, organizations, or groups whose leadership, support, and contributions have positively impacted the educational environment for students and staff in the Southern Boone School District.

Anyone who would like to submit a nomination for any of the four awards can do so online through the school district’s website at
sbschools.us/awards.

The Family of Christ Lutheran Church Fish Fry (drive thru only) is coming up, Friday April 11th, 4pm to 7pm at 408 S. Main St. in Ashland (across from the YMCA). I l love this event, as they have THE BEST fish and chips which remind me of my time eating in Ireland!

Don’t miss the Ashland Betterment Coalition’s “Trivia Night,” on Wednesday, March 26th, 5:30-9pm, at Woody’s. A table of eight for $175 includes a FREE large, one-topping pizza. Register or sponsor by contacting Christine at River Region Credit Union.

On Saturday, March 29th from noon-3 pm, there will be a Cruise In Car Show at Woody’s, weather permitting. No entry fee, just come out and look at the cool cars. Another event coming up at Woody’s is the Adult Prom on April 5th starting at 6 pm where you can dress up and dance the night away!
