Obituary: Steven Dale “Stevie/Hippie” Thomas

Steven Dale “Stevie/Hippie” Thomas, a resident of Hartsburg, passed away June 9, 2024, at his home lovingly cared for by his family.  He was 65 years old.

Stevie was born on February 22, 1959, in Jefferson City, a son of Howard and Jessie Cunningham Thomas.  He married Karla Bennett on July 3, 2015.  He was employed as a heavy equipment operator with Emery Sapp and Sons.  Stevie enjoyed the outdoors where his favorite activities included fishing, camping, boating and farming.  His other favorite pastimes included bowling, playing pool and woodworking.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Karla; his father, Howard Thomas; a son, Rusty (Jill) Thomas; step-sons, Travis (Megan) Craig, Devin (Megan) Craig and James Stafford, Jr.; a daughter, Wendy Thomas; sisters, Deb (Steve) Garrett, Darla Sapp and Diane (Charlie) Wyatt; grandchildren, Kennedy, Dominique, Landon, Christopher, Trevor and Peyton and step-grandchildren, Kamdyn, Hunter, Alec and Brayton.

His mother preceded him in death.

Funeral services honoring Stevie’s life will be held at 1:00 PM, Thursday, June 13, 2024, at Robinson-Yager Funeral Home in Ashland.  There will be no public visitation.  Burial will follow the service at New Liberty Cemetery in Hartsburg.
