JoAnn (Lane) Cain, 90, a resident of Ashland, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 27, 2024, at Boone Hospital Center.

JoAnn was born on February 16, 1934, in Jefferson City, Missouri, the daughter of Ewing Walter Lane and Dorothy Jean (Edwards) Lane. On June 30, 1954, in Denver, Colorado, she married Curtis P. Cain, and he preceded her in death in 2022.

JoAnn was a member of Hopewell Baptist Church where she played the church organ for 28 years. She had been recently attending Walk in Faith Church in Ashland. She was a faithful employee of Shelter Insurance for 18 years and before that she worked for the State of Missouri as a key punch operator. She loved traveling, but especially loved going on cruises. She loved her family and cherished every moment she was able to spend with them and loved her faithful companion, her dog Nelson. She was a talented musician and was part of the Lane Sisters for 10 years.

She will be sadly missed and forever remembered by two children, Scott A. Cain and wife Kimberly, Melody Lane Cain, all of Ashland; four grandchildren; three great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; three sisters, Rita Renoe, Twyla Nistendirk, and Terry Cramer.

JoAnn was preceded in death by her parents; husband Curtis; one grandson, Danny Lane; one sister, Sonja Kay Phillips.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 4, 2024, at Hopewell Baptist Church with Courtney Smith, Twyla Nistendirk, and Pastor Cathy Atkins officiating. A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service; and following the service, JoAnn will be laid to rest in Hopewell Cemetery.
