Edward Lee “Eddie” Sachs, 76, a resident of Ashland passed away peacefully on April 11, 2024, at his home.

Eddie was born on June 9, 1947, in Columbia, the son of Leroy Edward Sachs and Billie Jean Sappington. He is survived by his wife Donna Allee Sachs, whom he married on June 14, 1969, in Columbia, MO.

Eddie’s passion for entrepreneurship blossomed early on in his career when he started working at Gerbes Supermarket. It was there that he met his future business partner Adron Perry and embarked on the journey of success. In 1978, Eddie and Adron co-founded The Blue Acres Little General Store, which eventually expanded to operate five convenience store locations on the outskirts of Columbia. He dedicated himself wholeheartedly to the growth and prosperity of their business endeavors. Outside of work, Eddie cherished moments spent with his family and friends. Upon retirement, he found joy in playing golf and exploring new destinations. However, his heart was always drawn back to the family place at The Lake of the Ozarks, where he enjoyed cruising the waters aboard his boat and creating lasting memories with loved ones. A man of integrity and kindness, Eddie’s presence will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His legacy lives on through his family, who will forever hold him close in their hearts.

In addition to, Donna, his wife of 54 years, Eddie will be sadly missed and forever remembered by five children, Rebecca Lyn Shoot and husband Jason of Ashland, Nathan Edward Sachs of Ballwin, Mo., Erik Brandon Sachs and wife Luda of Oak Ridge, Tenn., Joshua Andrew Sachs and wife Lisa of Columbia, and Andrea Nicole Sachs of Columbia; ten grandchildren, Kylie, Lleyton, Paige, Greighson, Harper, Kannon, Kyler, Rylan, Braiden, and Claire; one great grandchild, Bentley; three sisters, Marcia Godfrey and husband Barry, Kay Wampler and husband Ron, and Donna Heavin; one brother, Shaun Sachs; two half-sisters, Lisa Sachs, and LeAnne Ahearn; two stepbrothers, Jack Ruble and John Ruble

Eddie was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, Teresa Michele Sachs, two stepbrothers Tom Ruble and Toby Shelburn

A celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 18, 2024, at Ashland Baptist Church with Pastor Zach Haffecke and Pastor Jim Smith officiating. A memorial visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service.
