Carol Smith 1940-2018

Carol Ann Friedrich Burgin Smith, 78, passed away August 30, 2018. Carol was born April 1, 1940 in Fayette, the daughter of Arthur Henry and Elizabeth Brockman Friedrich.

She married Robert L. Smith on February 14, 1987 at the Community United Methodist Church in Columbia. She is survived by three children: son, Barth Burgin (Cynthia) of Columbia, granddaughter, Lauran Janssen (Chris) of Columbia, daughter, Bonita Fitzmaurice (Dennis) of Columbia, grandchildren, Connor and Ann Fitzmaurice; daughter, Reverend Bendi Burgin of Albany, Mo.

Also, stepson, Mark Smith of Columbia, and step-grandchildren, Corey Smith (Holly) of Kansas City, step great-grandsons, Corbin, Caleb, and Carter; step-granddaughter, Jessica Montgomery (Joseph) of Columbia, step great-grandsons, Collin and Alex; step-grandson, Jordan Smith of Columbia.

Brother, Robert C. Friedrich (Louise) of Boonville, and nephews, James of Michigan, John (Stacy) of Columbia, and Tony (Carolyn) of St. Peters, Mo. and their families.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Arthur Henry, Jr., grandson Quentin A. Burgin, and stepson Michael Davin Smith.

A visitation will be held 5:00 to 7:00 pm Friday, September 7, 2018 at Community United Methodist Church, 3301 W. Broadway, Columbia and memorial service will be held there on Saturday, September 8, 2018 at 3:00 pm.
