Early candidates to file for office included Southern Boone County R-1 School Board members George Carney and Price Nichols. The two filed on Tuesday morning.

Kevin Schupp is the other school board member who’s term is up this spring and Schupp, currently serving as vice president of the board, told the Journal he intended to run for his seat again.

City of Ashland Board of Aldermen up for election include George Campbell Ward 1, Jesse Bronson Ward 2 and Fred Klippel Ward 3.

Bronson and Klippel filed on Tuesday morning to be on the April ballot to retain their seats.

Southern Boone Fire Board member Missy Bonderer’s seat is up for election next spring as well.

The deadline for filing for a school board seat, fire board seat or for a seat on the Board of Aldermen is January 17 at 5 p.m. Filing is available at the school board office when school is in session (see advertisement on page 12 of today’s paper) and filing paperwork is available at Ashland City Hall on weekdays from 8 a.m.-5 p.m.

The election will be held April 4, 2017.
