City to accept Flag donations

The City of Ashland will accept donations in order to purchase another flag on the avenue of flags on north Henry Clay. The flag will be raised in honor of former alderman and civic leader Carl Long, who died earlier this month.

Long served in the U.S. Army and received a Purple Heart for his service during the Korean War.

City Administrator Lyn Woolford said donations can be made to the Friends of the City of Ashland fund.

• The Board of Aldermen took no actions during a light agenda in their Sept. 6 meeting.

Woolford said the sidewalk project on Ash Street should be completed this week after workers received a two-week extension due to wet weather.
