Ashland City Administrator Kyle Michel shared with the Boone County Journal his viewpoint on various topics involving the city, including future growth, strategic planning, and informed decision-making.  Here are the topics and key points from that interview.

City Ward Maps: Due to rapid city growth over the past decade, there has been a need to balance out the ward populations in terms of residents per elected officials.  With the strongest growth occurring in the south and southwest portions of the city, this has resulted in significant disparities in ward populations.  To that end, the ward maps have been redrawn for consideration/approval with the result being approximately 1,600 residents per ward.  The wards were drawn out so that no elected representatives would lose their seat on the council.  The hope is to have this in place for the upcoming April 2023 elections.
