At the Nov. 4 meeting of the Ashland Board of Aldermen, a re-zoning request from James Guthries was approved on its first reading.

The property two parcels of land on north Henry Clay, currently zoned Light Industrial. The change, which requires a second reading and vote, would be to General Commercial. City Administrator Lyn Woolford said the change was a simple one as the city expects more commercial growth in that corridor which will eventually lead to the area of the Ashland Baptist Home.

The City was to hear from the Missouri Network Utility Transport on a request for a monopole – a pole which would provide additional “boost” for cell signals. However, Woolford said the pole – like an antenna – was requested to be placed in the middle of town. It is not known if the network will proceed with this request, no vote was taken at last Tuesday’s meeting.
