The Boone County Collector’s Office received more than 3,200 applications for the senior real estate tax relief program from the beginning of July to the middle of August, according to a news release.

The program was established after legislation passed by the Missouri General Assembly and Boone County voter support of Proposition 1 back in April, with the program opening on July 1.

The program is still available to certain Boone County residents age 62 or older. To be eligible, residents must own their residence and be liable for the property taxes on the residence. Applications will continue to be accepted through September, with a final application deadline of Oct. 1.

If interested, eligible applicants can visit the Boone County government website to apply.
