With voter approval of Proposition 1, the Boone County Commission will hold the first public hearing regarding the senior tax relief program on Thursday, April 18, at 1:30pm. The hearing will be held in the Commission Chambers of the Roger B. Wilson Boone County Government Center located at 801 E. Walnut.
The meeting is open to the public, who are welcome and encouraged to attend. The Boone County Commission has begun the public process of drafting a policy and addressing key elements of the senior tax relief program.
The approval of said policy will not occur until the conclusion of the 2024 Missouri Legislative Session since cleanup legislation regarding the senior citizen property tax freeze is currently being debated in the Missouri General Assembly. The legislative session concludes at 6pm on Friday, May 17, 2024, at which time the parameters of the legislation will be better known.
The Commission welcomes feedback, as the adoption of said policy will be the result of a public process that includes public input. Information about additional public hearings will be announced in the coming weeks.
