Ash Street Project Continues

Work on the Ash Street sidewalk project continues this week as workers, pictured above, completed adding larger water lines and will begin preparing for concrete to be poured.

According to City of Ashland officials, the project – which adds a sidewalk on the south side of the street from Henry Clay west to Main Street – will be completed early in the fall. The sidewalk project, which in addition to new water lines, also adds large box drain at multiple intersection along Ash Street in order to improve storm water runoff.

Ashland Mayor Gene Rhorer said early in his stint as mayor that he wanted to improve the sidewalk/pedestrian system in Ashland after seeing a student injured while walking home from school. The project is paid for in part by funding from a state grant.
