Recently there have been a number of questionable transactions being reported on Facebook Marketplace. Most listings tend to be up-front and honest but there are few who take advantage of platforms when possible. Here’s some advice from “10 Tips To Stay Safe When Using Facebook Marketplace” (honestlymodern.com) that can be used for many other social media sites as well. I have listed their advice along with a few of my observations from experience.
1. Don’t disclose personal information. Rarely is there ever a need to share personal information.
2. Meet in a public place, such as the McDonald’s parking lot, or the Ashland Police Department, where there is visibility.
3. Be aware that profiles may be fake. Do you or friends know this person? Is the profile new?
