Eagles defeat Tolton, Sacred Heart, Osage

Soccer teams which have been rolling the way the SoBoCo Eagles have been rolling could be excused if they were caught looking past the final week of the season and a few challenging teams.

Carsyn Morris scored a key goal for the Eagles in a win over Tolton last week.

That would not describe this Eagles team.

SoBoCo fought off a challenge from Father Tolton by getting a key goal from Carsyn Morris minutes after subbing in that led to a 2-1 win.

SoBoCo then took a 1-0 win at Sedalia Sacred Heart on Friday and raced past the Indians at Osage 3-0 on Monday evening.

The Eagles, now 20-1-1, are seeded first in next week’s Class 3 District 9 Tournament at Ashland. The Eagles face Fulton on Monday at 7 p.m.

If they win, they will play in the championship game on Wednesday at 6 p.m. If they are still in the playoffs, the Eagles would host the Sectional playoff game on Saturday, May 20.

Against Tolton, the Eagles fell behind 1-0 early. However, Morris found herself in the right place at the right time as the Eagles defense forced the Trailblazers goalie to commit to one side. Morris found the ball at her feet and slammed the shot in at the near post to tie the score.

A Kate Ponder-to-Faryn Griffin pass led to the winning goal early in the second half.
