The Southern Boone Eagles baseball team has a 10-3 record against Missouri teams which are not playing Class 5 baseball.
However, four losses to Georgia/Alabama teams to open the year – those teams started playing games in February, giving them a decided advantage – and losses to Rock Bridge, Staley, Battle and, on Tuesday night, Hickman leave the Eagles with a record below .500 at 10-11.
The Kewpies blasted the Eagles in Ashland, for a 16-2 win. Hickman scored three runs in each of the first two innings and posted 10 runs in the third inning.
The Eagles will be the fifth seed in the district tournament beginning Friday in Sullivan. The Eagles will face fourth seeded St. James and if they win will face top seed Helias on Saturday at 2 p.m. The championship game is set for Tuesday at 5 p.m.
