You could say that SoBoCo Eagles point guard Garrett Goodnight is six feet tall. In fact, he would prefer that – but he’s a lot closer to 5-11.

On the court, Goodnight can be as elusive to his opponents as he is about his size.

What’s not deceptive about his play is his defensive intensity and his ability to direct the Eagles offense.

“Garrett, in his second year as the starting point guard has really become our leader on the floor,” said Eagles coach Andy Jahnsen, “that’s on offense and defense.”

Goodnight says he worked a lot on his shooting over the summer, but realizes his job is to get the Eagles down the floor with their fast-paced offense.

“I’ve been a point guard since I can remember,” the soft-spoken senior says. “In the end, it all comes down to that moment. Get the team going or fix what is wrong.”
