When it is playoff time, a team simply needs to advance to the next round. Sometimes that is termed “Survive and advance to the next round.”

The SoBoCo Eagles did exactly that on Monday as they held off an upset-minded Fulton team by a 2-1 score.

The win puts the 20-2-1 Eagles into the district championship game vs Boonville on Wednesday in Fulton.

SoBoCo got both of their goals from freshman Koyia Prince – who has scored the last five goals for the Eagles.

SoBoCo took a 1-0 lead on a Prince goal off of a pass from Savana Johnson. Fulton tied the score later in the half, but the Eagles got the winning goal just before halftime when Lauren Mann too a direct kick just outside the penalty box, near the end line.

Mann sent the ball through the box where it was re-directed by Kate Ponder and Prince was in front of the goal to send the ball into the net.

In the second half, the Eagles had to deal with the Hornets offense as well as a sloppy field.
