The Eagles football team was down to the last few minutes in the game Friday versus California trailing by one point 14-13. Southern Boone was confidently driving the ball deep into Pintos territory for what would be a game winning score when calamity struck.

The Eagles fumbled the ball. California recovered with nothing to do but run out the clock to secure the win. Southern Boone was out of timeouts and was quickly losing hope. What can only be classified as a miracle blew life back into the lungs of the Eagles like a cool October breeze.

Senior defensive lineman Reygan Whitt forced a California fumble on a handoff attempt. The ball tumbled onto the field turf until Eagles Junior Blake Dapkus scooped the ball and sprinted into the end zone putting the Eagles ahead 19-14 with less than two minutes left in the game.

A successful two-point conversion had Southern Boone up 21-14 and the Eagles took the win.
